What is a Metallic Epoxy Flooring?

Metallic epoxy flooring is a multi-layered coating made up of a metallic mica powder mixed with a clear epoxy resin. The metallic addition does not offer much in terms of enhanced protection, as the epoxy resin itself is already waterproof, non-porous, and chemical resistant. Rather, the metallic-epoxy combination is done in large part for visual appeal.
In the application process, the mica powder flows across the epoxy as it cures. The resulting effect is similar to a lava-flow design that is notable for its intricate contours and pearlescent shimmer.
